Bij cyclingdestination.cc\/ zijn we altijd op zoek naar mooie initiatieven op het gebied van duurzaamheid. Hoewel we ons ook wel eens vergrijpen aan een kort verblijf met vlucht, proberen we vaker te kiezen voor de trein. In onze artikelen is vliegen de laatste optie, tenzij je spreekt over eilanden als Tenerife of Lanzarote. Dan is vliegen eigenlijk de enige optie. Daarom zijn we heel blij dat bedrijven in het fietsen ook meer bewustzijn voor duurzaamheid ontwikkelen. Ook grootmacht Shimano doet een duit in het zakje en begint met het inzamelen en recyclen van gebruikte schoenen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

45 inleverpunten voor jouw gebruikte schoenen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shimano heeft samen met FastFeetGrinded een mooi systeem opgezet. Alle schoenen die worden ingeleverd op een van de 45 inleverpunten<\/a> belanden niet bij het restafval, maar krijgen een tweede leven. Denk dan aan een kleerhanger, picknicktafel of sportvloer. Shimano ziet dit als een kleine, maar belangrijke, stap in het verduurzamen van de productieketen. Met een kleine nudge doet het bedrijf een duit in het zakje: bij de aanschaf van een nieuwe paar schoenen krijg je er gratis schoenplaatjes bij. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sportschoenen zijn big business<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wist jij dat er op jaarbasis zo’n 24 miljard paar sportschoenen geproduceerd wordt? Dat zijn 48 miljard schoenen! Sportschoenen zijn verbruiksproducten die slijten. Zeker in het geval van fietsschoenen zijn ze op een gegeven moment ‘op’. Hoewel je jarenlang kunt genieten van een goed paar schoenen, zijn ze soms lastig te repareren en daardoor aan vervanging toe. Als deze schoenen bij het restafval belanden, dan belanden ze in de verbrandingsoven en dat is zonde. Beter kunnen ze dan een tweede leven krijgen! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoe werkt dat nu?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tijdens het recycleproces worden de verschillende materialen gescheiden, waarna ze een tweede leven krijgen als sportvloer, picknicktafel, schoenschap of kleerhanger. Door slim te produceren bestaan deze producten bijna volledig uit oude schoenen (85%) en bio-based materiaal. Zo zorgen we dus niet alleen voor minder afval, maar ook voor minder behoefte aan nieuwe grondstoffen.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
