Het \u2018piece de resistance\u2019 van het Nederlandse watermanagement. Na de watersnoodramp van 1953 is de bouw van dit imposante systeem begonnen. Neeltje Jans is d\u00e9 naam die iedereen heeft geleerd op de basisschool. Tenminste, daar ga ik maar van uit. De Oosterscheldekering is een indrukwekkende installatie, in totaal bijna 10 kilometer lang. In het midden vind je Neeltje Jans. Die Oosterscheldekering is elk jaar weer het decor van het NK tegenwind fietsen. Het geeft je een idee van de omstandigheden hier. Aan de noordkant van de kering vind je het pittoreske Burgh-Haamstede. We zijn daar aanbeland voor onze 12 maanden &#8211; 12 provincies &#8211; 12 parken serie in samenwerking met Landal. Dit keer in het <a href=\"https:\/\/cutt.ly\/uex0lc5U\">Landal resort Haamstede<\/a>. Als je gaat fietsen in Zeeland, dan ga je worstelen met de wind. De ene dag waait ie een beetje, de andere dag waait ie meer. Je bent tenslotte aan de kust, dus helemaal windstil zal het nooit zijn. Op onze eerste dag trekken we gelijk de stoute schoenen aan en gaan we de Oosterscheldekering over. Het is een machtig aangezicht en een prachtige route om te fietsen. Je hebt een breed pad, er is veel ander fietsverkeer, maar zeker in de vroege uren, met de opkomende zon is het een uniek beeld. We rijden richting Noord-Beveland, aan de andere kant van de Oosterschelde. Vanaf daar maken we een mooie ronde rond de Schelde. Een stukje langs de waterkant, dan weer de landerijen in. De Zeelandbrug is als fietsbrug minder uitnodigend. Een smal tweerichtingen fietspad ligt aan de rand van de brug. Telkens als ik hier overheen ga, dan denk ik weer: er hoeft maar iets te gebeuren en ik heb gratis zwemles. Je rijdt hier kilometers lang met enkel aan beide zijden water. In de verte zie je de toren van Zierikzee. Een mooi plaatsje met een typische oude haven en dito huizen. Leuk voor een stop op een langere tocht. Daarna gaat het weer langs de dijk richting Burgh-Haamstede. Samen met Noord-Beveland, Walcheren, Zuid-Beveland, Tholen en Zeeuws-Vlaanderen vormt dit de provincie Zeeland. Op het eiland Schouwen-Duiveland vind je naast Zierikzee ook de populaire badplaats Renesse en Brouwershaven. Daartussenin ligt een weids landschap met boerenakkers, natuurgebied en hier en daar een dorpje. Met namen als Scharendijke, Kerkwerve en Dreischor vraag ik me altijd weer af waar deze vandaan komen. Sowieso lijken de namen in Zeeland altijd te eindigen op een \u2018e\u2019. Het is geen \u2018kerk\u2019 maar kerke\u2019. Niet scharendijk, maar Scharendijke. Net zoals het geen Ijzendijk, maar \u2018iezendieke\u2019 is. Hier tikken we het vakantiedorp Ouddorp aan en draaien dan door het duinlandschap weer terug. Een mooie route van bijna 55 kilometer brengt ons de hoogtepunten van twee provincies. Op de Grevelingendam wordt veel gekitesurft. Dus ook hier heb je met wind te maken. Het fietspad is daarentegen erg strak aangelegd. Je gaat dan via Veere en volgt letterlijk de over van het meer. Je komt dan ook langs het watersnoodmonument \u2018golven, dijk en hand\u2019. Altijd weer indrukwekkend en goed om je te bedenken dat hier in februari 1953 bijna 2000 mensen het leven lieten door het wassende water. Korte rondjes van 30km maar ook wat langer. Al eerder waren we in de buurt en ook toen konden we genieten van de prachtige Zeeuwse omgeving. Als je voor lange dagen op de fiets gaat, dan kun je tochten van 100+ kilometer uitzetten en toch telkens weer nieuwe plekken ontdekken. Genieten dus. Ik was met mijn gezin en gezamenlijk kun je ook heerlijk op de fiets erop uit. Er zijn meerdere fietsverhuur opties, ook op het park zelf. Wij huurden een bakfiets en trokken daarmee richting strand en de omliggende dorpjes. Op die manier kun je echt laagdrempelig de omgeving ontdekken. Gaaf dus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accomodatie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We verblijven in een zeer ruime 6 persoons villa op <a href=\"https:\/\/cutt.ly\/uex0lc5U\">Landal Resort Haamstede<\/a>. Dit is onderdeel van een drietal Landal Parken, die gezamenlijk een aantal faciliteiten delen. Uiteraard is er een broodjesservice, een horeca gelegenheid en een restaurant. Bij de horeca vind je ook de binnenspeeltuin en bowlingbaan, plus midgetgolf. Die laatste drie allemaal tegen betaling. Ook kun je hier tennissen of padellen. Inmiddels hebben we in meerdere 6 persoons accomodaties kunnen verblijven en deze spant de kroon. Er is een interne berging (waar je met gemak 4-5 fietsen kwijt kunt), de woonruimte is groot, met een heerlijke bank en een goede lange tafel. Boven vind je drie grote slaapkamers en twee badkamers. Pure luxe dus. Een zitje buiten maakt het helemaal af.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips in de buurt:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In Burgh-Haamstede (het zijn eigenlijk twee dorpen), heb je een heerlijk pannenkoekenrestaurant. <a href=\"https:\/\/pannekoekenmolen.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pannenkoekenmolen de Graanhalm<\/a> heet ie. Goedkoop, snel en goede kwaliteit. Ze hebben wel maar \u00e9\u00e9n specialiteit: pannenkoeken dus als je daar niet van houdt, dan is het niks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hotelbijdebakker.nl\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bakker Sonnemans<\/a>&nbsp;in het dorp is er nog eentje die op \u2018grootmoeders wijze\u2019 bolussen maakt. Aanrader dus, want Zeeland zonder bolus, das geen Zeeland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>De ijssalon in het dorpje is een bijzonder. Een \u2018one-man-show\u2019, maar wel eentje die in rap tempo ijscoupes, softijsjes, smoothies, koffie en weet ik veel wat nog meer eruit werkt. Heerlijk na een lange zomerse rit.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ga je over de kering bij Neetlje Jans dan kun je in Oostkapelle stoppen bij het <a href=\"https:\/\/hetkaslokaal.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kaslokaal<\/a>. Heerlijke baksel, superlekker koffie en als je daar afspreekt met je gezin, heb je nergens klachten over lange tochten of tijd dat je er niet bent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wil je een fiets huren? Dat kan op het park zelf, waar kinderfietsen, stadsfietsen en e-bikes verhuurd worden. Zoek je een sportieve fiets of heb je een bakfiets? Ga dan naar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jandejongefietsen.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biketotaal Jan de Jonghe<\/a>. Die verhuurt van alles. Houd er wel rekening mee dat je in Zeeland bent, dus op zondag is de hut dicht.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ga je een dagje naar het strand? Kies dan voor het strand bij Westenschouwen. De strandtent Sand and Pepper is echt subliem (qua eten maar ook qua bediening) en het strand met uitzicht op de kering is imposant. Wil je lunchen bij <a href=\"https:\/\/sandandpepper.nl\/\">Sand and Pepper<\/a>, dan is reserveren aan te raden.
