In Eerde, gemeente Meierijstad, proberen ze dat heel concreet te maken: een voormalige stortberg met nieuwe fiets- en MTB-paden, een wielercaf\u00e9 aan de voet, overnachtingen op het terrein en routes die letterlijk vanaf de deur vertrekken. Op 9 juli gaat de Vlagheideberg open voor fietsers. In september finisht de ZLM Tour er.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De klim \u2013 kort, steil, uitzicht<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die <strong>Vlagheideberg<\/strong> is de oude vuilstort de Vlagheide in Eerde, omgebouwd tot recreatieheuvel. De cijfers: <strong>400 meter<\/strong> lang, <strong>6,5% gemiddeld<\/strong>, <strong>27 hoogtemeters<\/strong>. De cijfers lijken bescheiden; het profiel is onregelmatig en tikt op sommige stroken bijna <strong>20%<\/strong> aan. Onverhard bovendien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bovenaan word je beloond met een uitzicht dat je in Brabant niet snel verwacht. Op een heldere dag zie je het Provinciehuis in Den Bosch, de kerktorens van Sint-Oedenrode en de industriegebieden van Veghel. Vergelijk het met andere omgebouwde stortbergen zoals <strong>Gulbergen<\/strong> oder <strong>De Kragge<\/strong>, maar het verschil zit &#8216;m hier in wat er aan de voet staat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aan de voet \u2013 slapen en starten op dezelfde plek<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aan de voet ligt <strong>Village D\u00e9part<\/strong>. Het concept van <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kliknieuwsveghel.nl\/nieuws\/algemeen\/204677\/in-de-startblokken-cycle-en-outdoorcentrum-vlagheide\">oprichtster Geertje Gloudemans<\/a>, geboren op de Vlagheide, draait om vijf pijlers: wielercaf\u00e9, teambuilding, fietsverhuur en clinics, vergaderen en overnachten. Of in hun eigen woorden: &#8220;Meet. Ride. Eat. Sleep. Repeat!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Concreet betekent dat:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>De Koers<\/strong>, het estamin\u00e9e van Village D\u00e9part, voor koffie met huisgemaakte appeltaart, lunch, speciaalbier of gewoon koers kijken op het terras met uitzicht op het water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Overnachtingsmogelijkheden<\/strong> op het terrein: huisjes in het groen bij het water, plus het <strong>Kooikershuisje<\/strong> op het eiland in de vijver<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Douches, fietsverhuur en vergaderruimtes<\/strong> in het hoofdgebouw<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Social rides, clinics en arrangementen op maat<\/strong> voor clubs, vriendengroepen of bedrijfsuitjes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zij zelf zegt het zo: &#8220;Wij willen met Village D\u00e9part de plek bieden waar mensen hun passie kunnen delen! Voor de fiets, voor de buitenlucht, voor bewegen in het groen en zeker ook voor Brabantse gezelligheid!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het idee is dat je hier als gravel- of MTB-groep een weekend neerploft en nergens anders heen hoeft. Slapen aan de klim, &#8217;s ochtends direct de route op, na afloop douchen en aanschuiven bij De Koers. Zo wordt het een basecamp dat z&#8217;n naam waard is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rond Eerde \u2013 gravel, MTB en een slotklim<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die <a href=\"https:\/\/villagedepart.nl\/activiteiten-faciliteiten\/routes\/\">routes vertrekken vanaf Village D\u00e9part<\/a> en bedienen meerdere disciplines. Voor gravelbikers gaat het richting De Kampina en De Maashorst, via stille Brabantse buitenwegen en polders. MTB&#8217;ers duiken de Eerdse bossen en Vresselse bossen in, met tussenstops bij Joe Mann en Aquabest. Racefietsen kan over rustige dorpswegen door de kernen van Meierijstad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De Vlagheideberg komt in de meeste routes terug als slotklim. De volgorde werkt: eerst je rit, dan het toetje, dan koffie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qua afstanden biedt Village D\u00e9part onder meer een 31 km familieroute (combinatie van verharde wegen en gravel), een 42 km gravelroute door de polders en een 86 km gravelrit richting De Maashorst. Genoeg variatie voor een lang weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We gaan deze routes zeker testen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3,6 miljoen voor een heuvel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De gemeente <strong>Meierijstad<\/strong> investeert 3,6 miljoen euro in de vernieuwde Vlagheide, die zo&#8217;n <strong>42 hectare<\/strong> beslaat. Fase 1, waarvan de aanleg in december 2025 begon, omvat:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>verhard fietspad van 3 km<\/strong>, vier meter breed en geschikt voor wielerwedstrijden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>MTB-route van circa 8 km<\/strong> die rond de flanken van de berg slingert<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extra <strong>wandelpaden van circa 5 km<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>parkeerplaats voor 30 auto&#8217;s<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De MTB-route slingert rond de berg in plaats van \u00e9\u00e9n keer omhoog en weer omlaag, wat flink meer hoogtemeters oplevert dan de huidige situatie. Fase 2, met verdere recreatieve en natuurontwikkeling rondom de berg, volgt later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ZLM Tour als stempel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kort na de opening krijgt de Vlagheideberg al een eerste koers. Op <strong>zaterdag 5 september 2026<\/strong> start en finisht de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mooischijndel.nl\/nieuws\/sport\/35438\/meierijstad-opnieuw-decor-van-etappe-zlm-tour\">vierde etappe van de ZLM Tour<\/a> unter <strong>Schijndel<\/strong>. De langste rit van deze editie trekt door alle dertien kernen van Meierijstad, met de Vlagheideberg als finishklim. Aan de start staan WorldTour-ploegen als Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Lidl-Trek en Team Picnic PostNL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John van den Akker zegt over het parcours: &#8220;Schijndel\u2013Schijndel, met het klimmetje op de Vlagheide, kan zomaar voor verrassingen zorgen. Zin in september.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De ZLM Tour schuift dit jaar voor het eerst naar september, in aanloop naar het EK en WK wielrennen. Dat maakt de Vlagheideberg meteen onderdeel van een serieus koersweekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wanneer kun je er terecht?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De Vlagheideberg opent op <strong>9. Juli 2026<\/strong> voor fietsers, wandelaars en mountainbikers. Village D\u00e9part is al operationeel met De Koers, overnachtingen en routes. Wie aan het eind van de zomer terugkomt, kan op 5 september de profs zien finishen op dezelfde klim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ken jij nog meer plekken in Nederland waar klim, koffie en overnachten zo dicht op elkaar zitten?
