Entdecke die drei Mountaineer-Monsterrouten!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afgelopen week zijn in samenwerking met Visit Mountaineer Country drie <strong>Mountaineer Monster<\/strong>-routes gelanceerd in North-Central West Virginia. Alleen dat is al een mondvol. Het gaat dus om een deel van de staat West-Virginia, dat bij velen vooral bekend zal zijn vanwege het nummer &#8216;Country Roads&#8217;. (take me home). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Terug naar de de bikepackingroutes. Deze zijn van een verschillende lengte en zo voor ieder wat wils. Ze meten respectievelijk 110 mijl (175km), 270 mijl (435km) en 465 mijl  (744km) en lopen door Monongalia, Preston, Barbour en Taylor Counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De nieuwe routes behoren tot de <em>Signature Routes<\/em> van Bikepacking Roots. Ze zijn bedoeld voor zowel een stevig weekend als een lange tocht door het achterland, met onbekende en eigenlijk onontgonnen gravelwegen als voornaamste ondergrond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Onderweg gaan de fietsers de uitdaging aan van de \u2018Mountaineer Monster\u2019-speurtocht naar cryptiden, een terugkerend thema dat verband houdt met de rijke verzameling lokale legendes van West Virginia, waaronder Mothman, het Grafton Monster, de Snallygaster en Bigfoot, en dat een speelse laag toevoegt aan het veeleisende terrein. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De schoonheid van de Mountaineer Monster ligt in de uitdagingen en beloningen: volop klimmen door prachtige bossen, talloze zwemplekken en vergezichten waar je je vingers bij af kunt likken. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-cycling-destination wp-block-embed-cycling-destination\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"NMrCouuWVE\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/de\/verhalen\/alles-wat-je-wilt-weten-over-bikepacking\/\">Alles, was Sie \u00fcber Bikepacking wissen wollen<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cAlles wat je wilt weten over bikepacking\u201d \u2014 Cycling Destination\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/verhalen\/alles-wat-je-wilt-weten-over-bikepacking\/embed#?secret=gTSomQWEbR#?secret=NMrCouuWVE\" data-secret=\"NMrCouuWVE\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mountaineer Country \u2013 van 110 tot 465 mijl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De kortste route is 110 mijl, ongeveer 177 km, lang en voert, net als de langere varianten, over ruige wegen. De middelste optie komt uit op 270 mijl, circa 435 km. De volledige Mountaineer Monster beslaat 465 mijl, ongeveer 748 km, en is opgezet als een meerdaags avontuur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volgens de aankondiging van de routes is een groot deel van het gravel grof en diep uitgesleten. Sommige wegen zijn al jaren nauwelijks onderhouden. Onderweg voeren de routes langs zwemgaten en beboste beklimmingen, terwijl de hoger gelegen delen uitzicht over Mountaineer Country bieden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dat vraagt om een fiets en bepakking die tegen een stootje kunnen. Controleer vooraf de actuele toestand van de wegen en eventuele afsluitingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.komoot.com\/tour\/3191377852\/embed?share_token=aDDPEDVQt51L67vHz0kXeSBt0nbHHFQizOQg4YGzQY3b2E0kJh&amp;hl=nl&amp;layout=classic&amp;profile=1\" width=\"100%\" height=\"700\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mothman en Bigfoot langs de route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De routebouwers hebben lokale folklore verwerkt in een cryptiden-speurtocht. Onderweg kunnen deelnemers zoeken naar verwijzingen naar <strong>Mothman<\/strong>die <strong>Grafton Monster<\/strong>die <strong>Snallygaster<\/strong> und <strong>Bigfoot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die zul je vooral ook in de langere routes terugvinden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.komoot.com\/tour\/3191412635\/embed?share_token=aGWJNHm41H1xiVpjH59ovYsvCrrF2cAAuAKeVmAjsLz6PLZ6uS&amp;hl=nl&amp;layout=classic&amp;profile=1\" width=\"100%\" height=\"700\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Je kunt deze routes allemaal alleen rijden, of je kunt ook kiezen voor deelname aan een community event. Want er is een heuse &#8216;Grand-D\u00e9part&#8217;, een groot event. Dat begint op <strong>24 oktober 2026 bij zonsopkomst<\/strong> en valt daarmee precies in de aanloop naar Halloween.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De grand d\u00e9part is een self-supported bikepackingrace\/-rit over elk van de beschikbare afstanden. Deelnemers kunnen hier een &#8216;social pace&#8217; aan houden of voor de snelste tijd gaan. Dat omvat inmiddels meer dan 40 routes en ruim 1.500 mijl gravel, verspreid rond Morgantown, Bruceton Mills, Terra Alta, Rowlesburg, Grafton, Philippi en Belington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die <strong>Mountaineer Monster<\/strong>-<strong>bikepackingroutes<\/strong> vormen slechts een onderdeel van het grotere Mountaineer Gravel-netwerk, dat momenteel meer dan 40 routes en 1.500 mijl aan grindwegen omvat, verspreid over zeven regionale knooppunten in Noord-Centraal West Virginia, waaronder Morgantown, Bruceton Mills, Terra Alta, Rowlesburg, Grafton, Philippi en Belington.
