North Holland in the Netherlands

North Holland is sea, dunes and polders. On the west side are the widest dune areas in the Netherlands, in the middle the polders and mills of the Zaanstreek and Waterland, and in the headland the island of Texel.

Why cycle in North Holland?

  • National Park Zuid-Kennemerland and the dunes between Haarlem and IJmuiden.
  • The Schoorl Dunes: the climbing dunes of Schoorl and one of the most famous mountain biking routes in the country.
  • Waterland and the Zaanstreek: dykes, meadows, moors and the windmills of Zaanse Schans.
  • The Gooi: meadows and forests around Hilversum and Laren.
  • Texel: dunes, mudflats and dykes, by bike on the boat.

Cycling routes around Amsterdam and Haarlem
