It is a National Park and one of the best places in the middle of the country for gravel biking or mountain biking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why cycle on the Utrecht Hills?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Amerongse Berg: with 69 meters the highest point of the Heuvelrug, and a real climb.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>The Grebbeberg near Rhenen, overlooking the Nederrijn river.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Mountain biking routes around Amerongen, Leersum and Rhenen, and many unpaved roads for gravel bikes.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Manors and castles, such as Castle Amerongen and Huis Doorn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Race bike on the Heuvelrug<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You cycle through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park, and from the Randstad you can get there in no time. Popular circuits include the Kleintje Utrechtse Heuvelrug, and there are events like the Hel van de Heuvelrug and the Tour du Jour in Driebergen. A few routes from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opdeheuvelrug.nl\/verken-de-heuvelrug\/fietsen\/wielrenroutes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On the Heuvelrug<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Eight from Amerongen<\/strong> (138 km): for the endurance runners.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Tour of Oosterbeek with Italianweg and Amerongse Berg<\/strong> (88 km): a lot of elevation change, so for the hard workers.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Leaking pipes and climbing the Utrecht Hills<\/strong> (83 km): the dyke along the Lek and the hills.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>The most beautiful of Heuvelrug<\/strong> (75 km): forests, villages, towns and water.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>NL Grit series 60K<\/strong> (66 km): through Utrecht and Gelderland, along the water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Close with <a href=\"\/en\/cycling-destination-approved\/fietscafe-de-proloog-in-amerongen-cycling-destination-approved\/\">bicycle caf\u00e9 De Proloog in Amerongen<\/a>, where cycling is central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mountainbike and gravel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 95 kilometers of mountain biking trails wind through the forests of the National Park, divided into nine routes. According to MTBroutes.nl, four of them are among the top 10 in the Netherlands. An MTB vignette is mandatory.
