Ook op onze <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/en\/stories-2\/cycling-in-crans-montana-battling-the-heat\/\">vorige reis <\/a>naar het ski en buitensport dorp in het Zwitserse kanton Valais-Wallis verbleven we in dit hotel. Een heerlijke, relaxte plek. Heel centraal in het dorp gelegen, met een goed ontbijt, een <a href=\"https:\/\/vivavocerestaurants.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">kwaliteits-Italiaan<\/a> eronder (van dezelfde eigenaar) en ruimte om je fiets veilig en goed op te bergen. Neem daarbij de ruime kamers en het heerlijke uitzicht over het beroemde panorama van Crans-Montana en je snapt het. Ik ben helemaal thuis. De voertaal is Frans maar ook Engels wordt goed gesproken. Fijn om toch weer te kunnen landen. Ik krijg nagenoeg dezelfde kamer toebedeeld en ik plof neer op het bed. Genieten. We hebben afgesproken om maar gelijk de buurt te gaan verkennen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>tekst: Sander Kolsloot &#8211; foto&#8217;s: Dennis Knuist &#8211; Sander Kolsloot<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/C06B0F19-965E-415D-A48A-7F10D8070061_1_102_o-1024x576.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12261\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Going up or going down<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crans-Montana ligt op ongeveer 1500 meter hoogte. Prachtig dus met een wijds uitzicht, met name over de alpen toppen aan de overkant van de vallei. Klein puntje van aandacht: het ligt dus op 1500 meter hoogte. Dat betekent twee dingen: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Je hebt heerlijke frisse berglucht. Het is niet voor niets dat er meerdere klinieken zijn voor mensen met luchtwegklachten. De lucht is er gewoon beter van kwaliteit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Je zult bijna altijd eindigen met een klim. En niet zo maar een klim. De Col de Crans Montana. Het is een monster, maar daarover later meer\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>oke, er is een andere optie: de funiculaire die weer omhoog gaat vanaf Sierre-Siders. Scheelt zeker als je helemaal kapot bent. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Of je gaat de klim naar <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/en\/stories-2\/switzerland\/crans-montana-on-the-bike-with-insider-tips-from-local-yves-2\/\">Lake of Tseuzier<\/a> aan. Dan klim je omhoog en dan weer naar beneden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"12259\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/E063B5B5-D9D0-4E88-B52F-E2EE413A6051_1_105_c-576x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12259\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"12260\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/8B4B5ADE-0660-40D8-8CE6-DB91E9159AE3_1_105_c-576x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12260\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kennismaking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Om goed kennis te maken met Crans-Montana en om de benen op te warmen doe je eigenlijk iets heel simpels. Je geeft vol gas in een afdaling naar beneden. Dan draai je om en hobbel je netjes weer omhoog. Dat is exact wat Dennis (aka Cycling_dennis) en ik doen. We rollen de berg af, tussen de typische Zwitserse huizen door, over prima asfalt met hier en daar een prachtige haarspeldbocht. Het uitzicht leidt soms af van de weg, maar jeetje wat blijft het hier toch mooi. Eenmaal beneden draaien we terug omhoog en rijden we eigenlijk via Lens de route terug. Niet de klassieke beklimming, maar wel eentje die je gaat voelen. Het is een lekkere zomerdag en onderaan in het dal is het een graad of 28. Dat neem je wel mee omhoog, hoewel het snel wat afkoelt. Je rijdt hier deels over de doorgaande weg, maar ook over wat kleinere paadjes. In Lens, als we over het dorpspleintje rijden, stoppen we om wat water te pakken. De aanwezigen die genieten van een ijsje kijken ons vol bewondering aan. Twee gekke Hollanders die omhoog gaan, je kunt beter een lekker bolletje aardbei nemen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"12268\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_3438-576x1024.webp\" alt=\"Fietsroute Crans-Montana , dennis knuist\" class=\"wp-image-12268\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"12267\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_1051_jpg-576x1024.webp\" alt=\"Fietsroute Crans-Montana , fiets, princeton carbonworks\" class=\"wp-image-12267\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Laat je niet verrassen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De route is in totaal 28 kilometer, maar hierin zit natuurlijk wel 12 kilometer dalen en ongeveer 12 kilometer klimmen. De weg omhoog is 900 meter in hoogteverschil en dat voel je wel. Stukken van de route gaan aan 11 tot 12 procent. Je denkt soms: kom ik wel vooruit? Dat is Zwitsers vlak. Eenmaal boven wacht weer dat prachtige panorama. Nat als een washandje parkeren we de fiets. We zijn thuis, maar vraag nog niet hoe.
