Als je gaat fietsen op de Utrechtse Heuvelrug, dan is de Amerongse Berg zonder twijfel de klim die je gaat willen rijden. In de wijde omgeving is er geen langere klim te vinden en met de Vuelta doorkomst in 2022 heb je ook nog eens een tof bordje om langs te rijden. Alto de Amerongse berg, wat wil je nog meer. Het dak van La Vuelta Holanda<\/a>. Van welke kant je ook komt, je gaat langs een bordje in het dorpje, waar op staat: De Proloog, hier afslaan. Dat betekent \u00e9\u00e9n ding: gelijk draaien en richting Fietscaf\u00e9 De Proloog<\/a>, h\u00e9t fietscaf\u00e9 van de regio. We gingen recent (weer eens) langs en we kunnen met gerust hart zeggen: Cycling Destination Approved<\/a>. Wil jij weten waarom? Lees met ons mee!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unieke combinatie <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Als je niet bekend bent in Amerongen, dan kan het zijn dat je de weg naar Proloog mist. Aan de zuidkant van de beklimming, net voordat je omhoog gaat, zit een soort poort waar je doorheen moet. Als je het eenmaal weet, dan ga je nooit meer fout. Je draait dan een pleintje op en 9 van de 10 keer zie je al andere fietsliefhebbers op het terras zitten van De Proloog. Je bent aangekomen op de juiste plek. Fietscaf\u00e9 de Proloog is een unieke combinatie van een echt fietscaf\u00e9, een plek waar je mogelijk kunt sleutelen aan je fiets, waar je kunt omkleden en douchen en waar je ook nog eens allerlei fietsgerelateerde activiteiten vindt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maar eerst koffie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Een goed fietscaf\u00e9 valt of staat met het aanbod en dan staat koffie heel hoog op de lijst. Gelukkig is dat goed geregeld, want de koffie is van topniveau. De Kickstarter van Il Magistrale<\/a> is speciaal voor Proloog gemaakt. Heerlijke doppio’s, Latte Macchiato’s, zwarte koffie’s of flat whites worden hier geserveerd. Uiteraard met keuze uit verschillende melksoorten, maar allemaal met liefde gemaakt. Heb je ook nog trek gekregen? Dan zit je goed. De vitrine op de bar is altijd gevuld met heerlijke baksels, zoals appeltaart, de seizoenskoek of appeltaart. Zelfgemaakt of niet, alles is lekker. Naast de koffie en taart is er ook een goede lunch en borrelkaart, met wijn, bier van de tap, heerlijke broodjes, soepen en uiteraard de bruine fruitschaal. Check zelf even de kaart<\/a>, dan kun je zien wat we bedoelen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spullen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wat maakt dit nu een Cycling Destination Approved locatie? Je kunt hier nog een extra bandje, reepje of gelletje aanschaffen. Handig als je net wat meer verbruikt hebt in je rit dan je dacht of als je ineens zonder spullen komt te zitten. Uiteraard is er ook een beperkte selectie van kleding verkrijgbaar, maar ik verwacht niet dat je tijdens je ritje een nieuw shirt gaat passen. Tenzij je gevallen bent, maar dat is weer een andere zaak. Wat ook mooi is: er hangen kunstwerken aan de muur van o.a. Menno Anker en je vindt er regelmatig mooie, bijzondere fietsen van Nederlandse wielertoppers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sociaal verantwoord ondernemen – maar dan echt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eigenaar Berry van den Brink is een bevlogen ondernemer die veel leuke en nieuwe idee\u00ebn aanpakt. In het pand van de Proloog was een beschermde woonvorm voor mensen met een stoornis in het autisme spectrum gevestigd. Op zoek naar een mooie vorm van dagbesteding is eigenlijk de Proloog ontstaan. Dat is al weer even geleden, maar het is nu een heuse trekpleister in de omgeving en voor de medewerkers een prachtige plek om zich te ontwikkelen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evenementen en meer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Naast verschillende events die worden georganiseerd, heeft De Proloog ook een vaste plek ingeruimd voor de ‘Wat als?!’ podcast<\/a>. De mannen nemen op in het caf\u00e9. Daarnaast is ook Nudge Cycling in De Proloog gevestigd, waarmee het caf\u00e9 een steeds bredere functie krijgt, maar waarbij alles nog steeds om fietsen draait. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wij komen hier graag. Sterker nog, het ligt op een favoriet rondje van zowel editor Sander als Erwin (die van de Mountain High Chasers. Een plek om te stoppen, je rit te beginnen (en te eindigen) of om een keer langs te komen voor een evenement.
