Elk jaar is het weer genieten als de Vuelta begint. Ook in 2021 was het een prachtige editie. Deze grote ronde is voor de toeschouwer een lust om naar te kijken. Niet alleen vanwege de spanning, de Vuelta wordt immers vaak op seconden beslist in plaats van minuten, maar ook vanwege de vele, onbekende beklimmingen en geitenpaden die ze elk jaar weer weten te vinden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spanje is sowieso een schitterend fietsland. De bekende regio\u2019s zoals Cataloni\u00eb, Mallorca, Tenerife en Baskenland zijn gesneden koek. Maar er is zoveel meer. We pikken er drie regio\u2019s\/plekken uit waar de Vuelta dit jaar doorheen gaat en waar jij ook per se zou moeten fietsen. De Vuelta laat jou Spanje zien!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Castilia y Leon – Burgos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alto de la Demanda – Burgos<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Elk jaar weer is er de ronde van Burgos. Een kleine etappe koers rondom deze 175.000 inwoners tellende gemeente in Castilia y Leon, in het noorden van Spain<\/a>. In de Vuelta 2021 als ook in de Vuelta a Burgos pakten ze de schitterende Espinosa De Los Monteros. Picon Blanco mee. 7,6kilometer aan 9,3% en dat voor een klim die maar weinigen kennen. Deze is wel 100 km in een rechte lijn. Wat dat betreft kun je beter naar het oosten trekken, naar het Espacia Natural de la Sierra de La Demanda. Das een mond vol, maar je kunt er schitterend klimmen. Met een vriendelijk klimmetje als de Valle Del Sol maar ook de Alto Cruz de la Demanda kun je goed uit de weg!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Het landschap is verder sowieso lekker glooiend, maar je kunt ook kiezen voor vlakkere routes.\u00a0Wat een dikke tip is: de Via Verde, maar dan wel op een fiets die ook off-road kan. Wegen zijn relatief vlak en geven schitterende uitzichten. Ook kun je in Burgos beginnen aan de Camino del Cid, in het spoor van ridder Rodrigo Diaz \u2018El Cid\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Galicia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wie op Netflix de serie \u2018Farina\u2019 heeft gekeken kan zich wel iets voorstellen bij het noordwestelijke gedeelte van Spanje. Het is er heel groen, wat wel een ding aanduid: REGEN! Het kan er wel nat zijn, maar toch. Uiteraard mag een bezoek aan Santiago de Compostela niet ontbreken. Misschien voor de vorm het laatste stukje even lopen. Maar ook vanuit Vigo via de vuurtoren naar de Cabo Silleiro is echt een aanrader. Een schitterende route langs de kust met mooie vergezichten. Ook een uitstapje naar de Monte Aloia is een aanrader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alto da Groba, die in 2021 in de Vuelta zat is echt een kuitenbijter, zeker de eerste 6km en in diezelfde etappe gaan ze over de Alto Castro de Herville, met een ouderwets Spaans stukje harken op 15-16%. Jaiks.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hierboven te zien: de Alto de Fiuco, in het noordoosten van deze provincie! Jammer alleen van de vele windmolens maar op deze plaat is het toch schitterend! Er is genoeg te zien in de omgeving en je kunt er je (klimmers)hart ophalen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Extremadura<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Deze streek wordt door bijna iedereen overgeslagen. Terecht? In de Vuelta van 2021 rijden ze van het plaatsje Don Benito naar Pico Villuercas. Klinkt als saai, maar vergeet niet dat ze onderweg een soort Muur van Huy overmoeten in de vorm van de Collado de Ballesteros (2.8km aan 14% gemiddeld!). Ook de slotkim van 14,5 km aan 6,2% heeft een paar pittige stukken. De regio heeft uiteraard ook mooie plekken als Badajoz en de plaats Merida. Dat is voor de bezitters van een stukje Taiwanees aluminium of carbon toch \u2018the place to be\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wat wel tof is: de korte beklimming naar Castillo de Feria, bijvoorbeeld vanuit Merida of vanuit het iets zuidelijker gelegen Almendralejo (alleen voor die naam al!). Zo zie je maar: de Vuelta laat jou Spanje zien!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
