In een serie van drie delen nemen we jou mee langs de mooiste plekken rondom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesarcs.com\/horaires-plans-bourg-saint-maurice\">Bourg Saint Maurice<\/a>, een van de mooiste basecamps in de Alpen, van waaruit je heel veel mooie beklimmingen kunt fietsen. Vandaag lees je in deel 2 meer over de Cormet de Roselend, een van de <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/en\/stories-2\/24-legendary-cols-from-the-tour-de-france\/\">legendarische klimmen uit de Tour de France<\/a>. En lekker mee fietsen rondom Bourg Saint Maurice en naar de Cormet de Roselend?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cormet de Roselend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tijd voor het echte werk! Op voorhand ben ik redelijk bevreesd voor deze klim. Twee dagen daarvoor ben ik namelijk met de auto de Cormet al opgereden om te gaan hiken in de bergen rondom het meer. Het eerst stuk is echt stijl, met een groot aantal venijnige haarspeldbochten. Maar goed, zoals we in Twente zeggen: <em>Vake bi-j te bange<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" data-id=\"19299\" src=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5755-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Cormet de Roselend, Bourg Saint Maurice, Robbert Flim, Etxeondo\" class=\"wp-image-19299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5755-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5755-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5755-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5755-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cyclingdestination.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5755.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bovenop de Roseland &#8211; prachtig en ik geef mezelf een schouderklopje<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als ik \u2019s ochtends wegfiets is het nog stralend weer, al verschijnen er achter me wel enkele wolken. Bij de tweede rotonde in Bourg Saint Maurice draai ik naar rechts de Cormet de Roselend op, alwaar de weg meteen omhoog loopt. Ook hier is het eerste stuk weer door het bos. Voor me zie ik enkele dames en een heer fietsen en heb ik een ijkpunt om naar toe te gaan. Bij de sectie met haarspeldbochten fiets ik de achterste dame achterop. In mijn beste Frans groeten we elkaar en praten we even over het weer en de beklimming van deze col. Veel adem om uitgebreid te praten heb ik echter niet. Ik ga de dame voorbij en kom in het meer open gedeelte van de Cormet. Op dat moment betrekt het achter me en plotseling rolt er een donderslag tussen de bergen door. De koeien in het weiland beneden me springen allemaal op en zoeken de beschutting op. Ook begint het iets te miezeren. Shit, wat ga ik doen? Draai ik om terug naar de camping of fiets ik door? Voor me is het echter nog stralend blauw, achter me is het donker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"mycols-embed-col\"><p lang=\"nl\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mycols.app\/nl\/beklimming\/cormet-de-roselend-bourg-saint-maurice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cormet de Roselend<\/a>, Bourg Saint Maurice, Frankrijk<\/p>&bull; Afstand: 19.2 km, Hoogteverschil: 1135 m, Gemiddelde helling: 5.9 %<\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/mycols.app\/js\/embed.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Doorgaan is de enige optie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ik besluit om een tandje bij te zetten en gewoon mijn route voort te zetten. Waarschijnlijk blijf ik het slechte weer net voor en op een enkele druppel na houd ik het droog. In de verte zie ik de top van de Roseland en ik ben echt overweldigd door de pracht van de bergen om me heen. Wat kan een mens zich soms nietig voelen. Boven op de top maak ik een foto van de col, drink ik een colaatje en besluit ik om nog even door te rijden richting Lac de Roseland. Toen ik daar twee dagen eerder langsreed passeerden we namelijk een klein restaurantje, waar ik even stop om wat te eten. Daarna rijd ik terug omhoog om vervolgens 19 kilometer af te dalen naar Bourg Saint Maurice. Het eerste stuk (tot aan het bos) is heerlijk overzichtelijk, waardoor de snelheid flink oploopt. Ik heb vertrouwen in mijn fiets en ga harder dan ik vooraf gedurfd zou hebben. Ik besluit om \u2018thuis\u2019 maar niet tegen mijn vrouw te vertellen wat mijn topsnelheid was. Ook in de sectie met haarspeldbochten is het heerlijk dalen; bocht inschatten, remmen, insturen en weer optrekken. Ik merk dat het hier flink geregend heeft, want de weg is nog steeds nat. Het is dus een goede beslissing geweest om door te fietsen naar boven. Als ik terug kom bij de camping heb ik 1250 hoogtemeters gepakt en 47 kilometer gefietst. De klim naar Col de Petite Saint Bernard is 23 kilometer lang, maar nergens echt supersteil. Een echte loper om je klimmersbenen te trainen. Je hebt constant berglandschap om je heen. De roze geschilderde weg is het bekende referentiepunt vlak voor La Rosi\u00e8re. Mijn route gaat eigenlijk niet over deze weg, maar ik passeer \u2018m wel. Voor het gevoel daal ik het stukje even naar beneden, om deze toch omhoog te fietsen. Na La Rosi\u00e8re fiets ik de laatste 6 kilometer naar Col de Petite Saint Bernard . Ook dit stuk is met 4,4% gemiddeld prima te fietsen en het uitzicht is fenomenaal. Aan de linkerkant ligt de vallei, waar de weg vlak langs de afgrond leidt, voor je d etop van de col en rechts de &#8216;muur&#8217;. Bovengekomen passeer ik het oude Hospice Col du Petite Saint Bernard en fiets ik door richting het bordje van Itali\u00eb, naar de Aosta-vallei.
