From 16 to 20 May, we will be travelling in southern Germany, staying in the beautiful region around Zwiesel, in the heart of the Bavarian Forest. The new Landal park Arber<\/a> is still under construction, but the location is already ideal for an active, sustainable holiday in the middle of nature, a stone's throw from the Czech border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electric on the move: sustainable travel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We set off in an environmentally conscious way: driving an electric car south towards the green heart of Germany. The charging infrastructure en route is excellent, making the drive smooth and comfortable. Sustainable travel not only makes you feel good, it also makes the journey more peaceful and conscious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bavarian hospitality and mountain landscapes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One thing you will immediately remember: southern Germany has beautiful rolling hills. It is the low-to-medium mountain range here, so you will see wooded slopes and the familiar charming villages with onion-shaped church towers. Zwiesel lies on the edge of the Bayerischer Wald National Park, Germany's oldest national park. This park is known for its dense forestation, for its wildlife and the beautiful views from peaks such as the Gro\u00dfer Falkenstein and the Rachel. This is going to be a treat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The region breathes tranquillity and tradition. In villages like Bodenmais or Frauenau, you can see old traditions such as woodworking, glassblowing and Bavarian folklore (with costumes) still very much alive. That makes it extra beautiful here. Our accommodation in Zwiesel is comfortable and spacious, with sauna (!), bath and multiple bedrooms-ideal for cyclists travelling in groups. Landal understands what active travellers need: secure bike storage, room to recuperate, and direct access to nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cycling through Germany and the Czech Republic<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the trip is three days of great cycling through the border region of southern Germany and the Czech Republic. So, for the record, here you are in Bavaria, Germany's largest state. The surface area of Bavaria is as big as the entire Benelux! For this trip, we brought our own bikes. We ride on well-maintained cycle paths that wind through forests, stream valleys and picturesque villages. What characterises this region are the challenging routes. Bavaria, and especially its combination with the Czech Republic, makes for routes with considerable height differences. One thing you know for sure, at the end of an ascent you will find a beautiful vista, real silence and fresh air every time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is striking is the quality of the infrastructure: in both Germany and the Czech Republic, the trails are perfectly signposted. We pause at typical local caf\u00e9s and guesthouses. There we can really enjoy the fresh Apfelstrudel, hearty soup or a Czech draught beer. The hills are challenging, but not inhumanly steep. Ideal for those who enjoy climbing without Alpine ambition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A region with potential<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Although the Landal park is still under construction, the region is already proving to be a hidden gem. The park has lots of amenities such as laadpal and cycling and hiking routes right from the park. Also the proximity to the Czech Republic makes Landal Arber in Zwiesel ready to become a top location for real sustainable cycling holidays. You'll also find true Bavarian charm here, combined with unspoilt nature and thus the possibility of crossing the border. That always provides just that little bit extra and thus a destination with a future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why you want to go to Landal Arber in Zwiesel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This trip to the Bavarian Forest is a perfect blend of sustainability, nature and adventure. The electric car journey is not only environmentally conscious, but also surprisingly practical. The bike rides through the green border region give a sense of freedom and connection with the landscape. And although the park is not yet finished, the accommodation of Landal<\/a> already plenty of comfort and bike-friendly facilities. This tastes like more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
