Dit is deel twee van dat mooi verslag, met daarin o.a. een relatief onbekende pas, de Passo Vivione en ook de klim naar de Gavia, die nog heel even blijft zoals ie blijft. Want om Thomas te quoten: &#8216;achteraf was het episch&#8217;. De Passo Vivione is met 36 kilometer de uitdaging van de dag. Gelukkig stelt de weg naar de top geen moment teleur. Je rijdt van het ene landschap naar het andere. Als ik iemand een klim moet aanraden van deze trip is het deze klim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We beginnen op de grote weg en daar is alles nog groots, de bergen en de vergezichten. Tot we in het bos komen, daar wordt de weg smaller en hier zien we een Efteling-achtig dorpje, slingerende paadjes die op en neer gaan en waarbij je telkens terug kan kijken op waar je geweest bent. We klimmen door, langs de rotswand naar boven. De weg zit tegen de berg aangeplakt en we rijden de wolken in. We doen rustig aan, want we hebben tegelijk veel te verwerken en weer genoeg te zien. Ook weten we wat ons wacht. Lang vals plat naar Ponte di Legno. Gelukkig is een groot gedeelte een fietspad. Hier genieten we van de tunnels, de rivier en de rust. Het had erger gekund, de originele voorspelling was vele millimeters per uur, nu miezert het. Maar de moed en de regen zakken mij wel in de schoenen. We gaan de Gavia op.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gelukkig heb ik de klim al een keer gedaan onder goede omstandigheden. Dan komt mijn redding. Een aantal andere renners besluiten dat dit niet hun dag is. \u201cOp vakantie fiets ik niet in de regen.\u201d Mooi had ik ook weinig zin in. We besluiten af te snijden. 55 kilometer met 600 hoogtemeters naar het volgende hotel.
