Het verkoopt een heel weekend vol &#8216;strade bianche&#8217;, lokaal eten en vintage sfeer. Als we naar het programma van de <a href=\"https:\/\/eroica.cc\/en\/nova-eroica-istria\">tweede editie van NOVA Eroica Istria<\/a> kijken, dan lijkt dat in Kroati\u00eb meer dan marketingpraat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of <strong>NOVA Eroica Istria \u2013 Truffle Tour<\/strong> keert op 1 en 2 mei 2026 terug in <strong>Novigrad<\/strong>, in het noordwesten van Istri\u00eb. De eerste editie vond afgelopen najaar plaats, maar voor 2026 schuift het event naar het voorjaar. De datum valt samen met Dag van de Arbeid. Om 10 uur \u2019s ochtends opent een brassband de dag met een traditionele reveille, gevolgd door een picknick met live muziek in <strong>Karpinjan<\/strong>. Om 11 uur start een Family Bike Ride, bedoeld voor gezinnen en recreatieve fietsers. Geen startnummers, geen druk. Later op de dag, vanaf 17 uur, volgt de Vintage Tour voor eigenaren van vintage fietsen en deelnemers in retro fietskleding, geheel in de geest van de oorspronkelijke Eroica. Er is ook een fietstentoonstelling in het Lapidarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zaterdag wordt het serieuzer. Dan staan er drie gravelroutes op het programma, allemaal met start en finish in Novigrad:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Truffle Route<\/strong> (150 km) \u2013 voor ervaren rijders, langs <strong>Motovun<\/strong>, <strong>Livade<\/strong> en <strong>Oprtalj<\/strong>, door truffelgebied en middeleeuwse dorpen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Teran Route<\/strong> (100 km) \u2013 een goede middenweg tussen sportief en landschappelijk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Malvasia Route<\/strong> (60 km) \u2013 voor wie vooral wil gravelen en eten, zonder zich helemaal kapot te rijden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meer dan 80% van de routes bestaat uit de karakteristieke Istrische witte wegen, vergelijkbaar met de Toscaanse <em>sterrato<\/em>. Een flink deel van het parcours loopt over de <strong>Parenzana<\/strong>, een <a href=\"https:\/\/coloursofistria.com\/en\/events\/nova-eroica-istria\">voormalige smalspoorlijn<\/a> die ooit Tri\u00ebst met Pore\u010d verbond en nu als fietspad dient. Onderweg zijn er verzorgingsposten met lokale producten: truffels, olijfolie, wijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDe terugkeer in mei en de groeiende belangstelling onder deelnemers tonen aan dat Istri\u00eb een groot potentieel heeft voor de ontwikkeling van internationale gravelwedstrijden van topniveau,\u201d zei Denis Ivo\u0161evi\u0107, directeur van de Istria Tourist Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Er wordt fietsverhuur aangeboden tijdens het event, voor wie niet met een bike bag wil slepen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NOVA versus klassiek \u2013 even ophelderen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Voor wie het onderscheid niet scherp heeft: de klassieke <strong>L\u2019Eroica<\/strong> in Gaiole in Chianti is strikt vintage. Stalen frames, versnellingen op het onderbuisje, fietsen van v\u00f3\u00f3r 1987. NOVA Eroica is de moderne tak, opgericht in 2017, waar je gewoon met je carbon gravelbike aan de start mag. Dezelfde onverharde wegen, dezelfde filosofie van landschap en gastronomie, maar dan zonder de verplichting om op een stuk nostalgie te rijden. Wel zijn er technische eisen: dropbars, schijfremmen, minimaal 32mm banden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De rest van de NOVA Eroica-kalender 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Istri\u00eb is de smaakmaker van het voorjaar, maar de rest van de kalender biedt genoeg alternatieven. Een kort overzicht:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eroica.cc\/en\/buonconvento-regulations\/\">NOVA Eroica Buonconvento<\/a><\/strong> (11\u201312 april, Siena, Itali\u00eb) \u2013 De Toscaanse thuisbasis van het circuit. Het uithangbord hier is de Epic Route van 290 km in randonn\u00e9e-stijl: volledig autonoom, verplichte verlichting, en een serieus lange dag in het zadel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eroica.cc\/en\/gran-sasso-regulations\/\">NOVA Eroica Gran Sasso<\/a><\/strong> (6 juni, Castel del Monte, Itali\u00eb) \u2013 Voor de klimgeiten. Hoogte, Apennijnen, getimede speciale proeven. Mountainbikes en e-bikes zijn hier uitzonderlijk toegestaan in de toeristische categorie\u00ebn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eroica.cc\/en\/nova-eroica-svizzera-regulations\/\">NOVA Eroica Svizzera<\/a><\/strong> (13 juni, Poschiavo, Zwitserland) \u2013 Hybride formule in de Graub\u00fcnden. Compacter, strakker, alpien. De Fondovalle Bio-route van 50 km is de enige categorie waar e-gravel is toegestaan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>L\u2019Eroica<\/strong> (3\u20134 oktober, Gaiole in Chianti, Itali\u00eb) \u2013 Het moederevent. Alleen vintage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elk event heeft een eigen karakter. Istri\u00eb zet in op festival en gastronomie, Buonconvento op lange afstand, Gran Sasso op hoogtemeters, Poschiavo op een strakkere alpine formule.
