For cool gravel routes, you quickly think of Brabant, Drenthe<\/a> Whether the Achterhoek<\/a>. But nothing could be further from the truth; a stone's throw from the Randstad, we discovered a very varied gravel ride. This 77-kilometre route takes you across the moors of Hilversum, through the forests of the Utrecht Hill Ridge<\/a> and past the most beautiful villas. A gravel ride with a royal touch, as we don't skip Soestdijk Palace either. And how about a ride on the runway of Soesterberg Air Base? Here you can really gravel like a king or queen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We spend the night at 'Nature campsite Fazantenhof<\/a>', a campsite tucked away in the woods between Lage Vuursche and Hollandsche Rading. Barely two kilometres away from none other than Castle Drakensteyn - better known as the home of Princess Beatrix. The route starts about a kilometre from the campsite. So a good tip if you're graveling in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is pitch black and super quiet at night. As a result, we sleep great. In the morning, we wake up to the sound of birds singing and when we sit down to breakfast, the sun shines through the trees. If that's not a holiday? As far as we are concerned, this campsite is definitely a must for a relaxed start to your cycling trip if you are not from the Utrecht area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
