I still remember that I was on vacation myself France, Early 2000s. The Tour de France was around the corner. Back then, you didn’t have navigation systems yet. Or maybe I just didn’t have them. If you wanted to follow the peloton, you had to rely on information from the media. The best you could do was go to the local bar and ask if ‘Le Tour’ was still around. With a bit of luck, everyone wouldn’t be too drunk from the Picard and you would know more. The discovery trip was always part of the fun. The signs would always only stay up for a short time after a ride like that. They were either removed by the organization or taken as souvenirs. How could you ever cycle the same route again? Because that’s also part of the experience. At least, if you’re a cyclist and also a fan of the race.

Partnership Komoot x Giro d’Italia

For anyone who would like to experience riding in the footsteps of the pros for once, Komoot has entered into a very nice partnership with the organizers of the Giro d’Italia. This year’s Giro d’Italia starts in Hungary, which is another new development. Hungary has never hosted a major cycling race before. With this partnership, Komoot is immediately establishing itself as a cycling destination. The ready-made routes also help a little. You can thus cycle the first stages right away. Perhaps you will feel like Mathieu van der Poel at some point. Later in the race, beautiful climbs and beautiful coastal routes are tackled. The Giro peak, the Cima Coppi, is this year located on the Passo Pordoi, part of the famous Sella Ronda. The Fedaia pass, near the cycling city Bolzano There is one that you should mark in your calendar.
