Discover the Cols of the Pyrenees without a car

For anyone dreaming of a week full of pure climbing experience in the summer of 2025 without traffic, the Pyrenees Cycl’n Trip an opportunity. Between July 20 and 25, a five-day arrangement is offered where between 9:00 and 12:00 only cyclists are allowed to enter the mountain passes – so no cars allowed! The route starts from Areau and takes you past some of the most famous cols of the Tour de France: Port de Balès, Peyresourde, Aspin, Tourmalet, Hautacam, Aubisque, Soulor and one brand new passage over The Spandelles

Stay comfortable, drive pain-free

Basically, this is a free initiative. What’s more, anyone who is nearby can climb any climb themselves, on July 21-25. So please take into account the cols that are closed on the relevant day. You can see that below.

But if you want to go for the adventure now, you can also book an all-in package. Starting at €525, you’ll sleep 5 nights in a hotel including breakfast, baggage transfer, and a guide! No hassle with your luggage either: your bag or suitcase will follow you day after day to the next accommodation.

Route in flight:

  • Day 1 (July 21): Start with the heavyweights Port de Balès, Then the classics Peyresourde, Val-Louron Azet and Portet – an idea for a solid introduction
  • Day 2 (July 22): Doublette with Col d’Aspin en Col du Portet, Both in the Aure Valley, with panoramic views of the Pic du Midi
  • Day 3 (July 23): The King of the Pyrenees: Col du Tourmalet, You can optionally continue on to Luz Ardiden – fatigue but also satisfaction guaranteed
  • Day 4 (July 24): You choose top-class slopes: do you go for the beauty of Hautacam, or the charm of CambasqueOr do you both roll with it?
  • Day 5 (July 25): A beautiful closing round with the premiere of Col de Spandelles, plus two classics: Soulor en Aubisque – a day full of memorable climbs

A few more tips:

  • Book your flight or train journey to Lourdes or Toulouse well in advance – in July it’s busy.
  • Train specifically on long days: Three or more climbs per day is physically demanding.
  • Bring warm clothing – the peaks of Hautacam and Tourmalet can be fresh, even in July.
  • Check your bike before you go. Make sure you check if you have any suspension issues and if your brakes and tires are still working.
