Owner Bernhard is himself an absolute fan of cycling. Not only will you often see him at the hotel reception, he can also give you all the beautiful trails, photo spots and shortcuts in the area. Including almost unknown routes on the border with Italy, along the old defensive lines or beautiful winding paths near Praxmar, if the ride to Kühtai seems a bit too far. At the time of our visit, Bernhard is in full swing and we get explanations about beautiful photo spots and beautiful routes. The sun is only behind the clouds, but no complaints at all. The theme: you feel right at home, with a splash area for your bike right outside the door, a locked bike shed and the idea that you are not being overlooked here.

Rooms and more

In winter the hotel is a real winter destination and in summer hikers and cyclists come here. The hotel has been built in typical Austrian style, with a bit of that ‘stube’ feel in the restaurant and the rooms. Lots of wood, but high quality. Cosy, warm and with a lovely bed, a spacious room and a few nice extras like a bag that you can use on the trails or in the city. Of course, it has to be returned in good condition. On the balcony of the different rooms you have that view again. A real Alpine-Austrian feeling.

Breakfast and dinner

You can start your bike day here perfectly with a breakfast buffet where you can choose from a wide variety of healthy options. Plenty of attention is paid to healthy food choices, including fruits, yogurt, nuts, seeds, and more. Bring an apple along for the journey (or a banana), and you’re ready to go. The coffee is of high quality, and the rest of the drinks are well-stocked. All animal products and, where possible, fruit are locally produced. The quality is correspondingly high.

’In the evening you can dine à la carte in the restaurant or join the menu. Again, the emphasis here is on local products and of course your dietary requirements can be taken into account. Lunch packs are also available and if you return to the hotel after a long day there is always a late afternoon snack available in the bar. Self-service is the code word here, but that is all very well in order. In the evening you can be served from behind the bar. The large terrace, in the sun with a view of the Nordkette and in the foreground the tower of the ski jumping hill and the city… Take me home now.

Routes

Here you will find a number of beautiful routes around the hotel. They are easy to drive from the hotel. Generally, keep in mind that Mutters is slightly higher than Innsbruck city. So when you make your routes, please make sure you don’t end up with a tough climb. But Bernhard will be happy to help you further.

Practical

One more thing about the hotel. It is located just south of the city of Innsbruck itself. In our opinion, it is an ideal combination. There is a tram/train stop right around the corner, which regularly goes towards the city. In 20 minutes you are next to the golden roof.

The night train from Amsterdam or Utrecht is a good travel option. It runs in a straight line to Innsbruck Central Station. Check the website of the Nightjet For more info. The only downside is that you have to rent a bike on site, but that can then be arranged through the hotel.

The hotel is more than 900 kilometers by car from Utrecht. In our opinion, this is a bit far from the city center. Maximum reachable It's a long weekend ahead of you. You can park your car on the grounds.

Innsbruck also has an airport, but actually operates only winter flights. We ourselves, however, are more of the motto: only fly when necessary.
