A bike light, a bell and a powerbank in one, and all that neatly tucked away under your bike computer. That’s the Fabric Lumaray V3. I mounted it under my Garmin and rode it for a while. A handy thing for any cyclist, but especially for those who spend long days on the bike, go on a cycling holiday, or go bikepacking.

The Lumaray V3 almost disappears under your bike computer.

Light that you don't want to see

The Lumaray V3 attaches under your Garmin or Wahoo, or under the corresponding Fabric computer holder itself. I used that combination, and it works just as well: the light and bell disappear completely under your bike computer. No extra holder on your handlebar, no separate lamp that rattles. Your cockpit stays tight, and that also saves some air resistance.

According to Fabric, the light shines out 270 degrees, so you’re also clearly visible from the side. At the highest setting, it produces 400 lumens. The battery lasts 2.5 hours at that level. In the lowest setting, it lasts a whopping 170 hours. My favorite mode? The ‘Kitt’ mode: a back-and-forth motion that immediately catches the eye. The parking mode is also handy, as the light turns off automatically.

Tunnels, darkness and long days

Where such a lamp really proves its worth is on a trip. Anyone who cycles in the Alps, the Pyrenees or along the Italian coast regularly enters a tunnel. From bright sunlight to darkness, with cars behind you. Then you want to be seen with just one press of a button. The Lumaray is already on your handlebar: you don’t have to fish a light out of your back pocket.

Even on a long day that ends later than planned, or on a bikepacking trip where you’re still searching for a campsite in the dusk, it’s nice to have the light always with you. Just calculate what you’ll need: 2.5 hours of power is enough for a tunnel or a stretch in the dusk, not for a whole night ride at full power.

A bell that stands out and a powerbank

The bell reaches up to 80 decibels and sounds like a traditional bicycle bell. That works surprisingly well: other cyclists and walkers immediately look up. If you want a different sound, you can upload your own sound file to the lamp via your computer.

Finally, the LV3 also serves as a power bank. On a multi-day trip or bikepacking trip, you can charge your bike computer or phone on the go. However, keep in mind that light and calls will take less time afterwards.

Conclusion

  • For whom: Cyclists who want to be clearly visible without clutter on the handlebars, and travelers and bikepackers who ride through tunnels and in the dark.
  • Strong: Fully hidden under your bike computer, striking Kitt pattern, 170 hours in the lowest mode, all in one: call and powerbank.
  • Please note: 2.5 hours at the highest setting: for long stretches in the dark, choose a lower setting.

Fabric has created a fun and safe lamp with the Lumaray V3. You are better visible and you get a tidy handlebar for free.
