That we are fans of Crans-Montana, that may be clear. We have been working with this beautiful Swiss destination for several years. The traditionally famous ski resort is increasingly emerging as a cycling destination. In our collaboration, we have also thought of offering some tips for activities on a day off. Or if you have just returned from a fun trip and want to do something fun in Crans (or Montana, they are two villages after all). Crans-Montana really is a top destination for your next bike trip. But check out these 10 tips in Crans-Montana for when you're not biking for a while:
- Chilling at the Lakes: Score some snacks and chill on the shores of Lac de Chermignon, Lac Grenon and Lac d'Icogne. Superb spots for a relaxing afternoon or a chill picnic.
- View from the Funiculaire: Take the funicular from Sierre to Crans-Montana for insane views of the Rhône Valley and the Alps. Perfect for your Insta! And another tip: you can also take your bike on the cable car. So should you not feel like climbing to the top after a long adventure, take the Funiculaire. Double win.
- Checking art at Fondation Opale: Fancy something cultural? Fondation Opale has awesome contemporary Aboriginal art from Australia. Truly a unique vibe and something you wouldn't expect at a fancy place like Crans-Montana
- Wine tasting: Valais is known for its top wines. Arrange a tour at a local vineyard and taste the region's best drops.
- Spa Day: Take a day off from cycling and pamper yourself at one of the luxury spas. Massages, thermal baths, you name it. Overlooking the stunning panorama. NICE!
- Golf: Not just for the oldies; golf at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club is really worth playing. Not for nothing is one of the most important tournaments on the DP World Tour played here: Omega European Masters.
- Hiking to Bella Lui: Take the cable car and hike to the Bella Lui viewpoint. The views there are really next level!
- Eat at local restaurants: Dive into Swiss cuisine with dishes like raclette and fondue, made with super-fresh local produce. For example, check out La Plage. You sit here by the beach, which they have created in Crans-Montana. The food is really good.
- Alaïa Chalet: Fancy some action? At Alaïa Chalet, you can skateboard, climb and more in a fat indoor setting. It is affiliated with the Alaïa lodge, one of the hotels we find totally chill when staying in Crans-Montana.
- Festivals and events: Check the local calendar for festivals and events when you are there. From music festivals to sports events, there is always something to do.
In short, Crans-Montana is not only great for cycling enthusiasts but also offers plenty of options to chill out and enjoy all that Switzerland has to offer. Super for a trip with friends or just chilling out solo. Either way, by bike! But if you don't cycle for a while, you still have plenty to do.
