Canyon has launched a new version of its successful Grail gravel bike. With this new Grail, the German bike maker from Koblenz has chosen to replace the 'double-decker' handlebars it was known for with a more conventional variant. Remarkable, because the double-decker in particular was the subject of so much controversy, especially about its supposed comfort and handling advantages. Anyway, Canyon did tinker with it a lot more. Here are some of the novelties and changes.

1. New Geometry and Aerodynamics:

  • The bike has received a new geometry that contributes to a better riding experience. Improvements have been made to the bike's aerodynamics, which can help reduce drag and thus increase speed.

2. CFR model:

  • A CFR (Canyon Factory Racing) model is now also available. Canyon's CFR models are top of the line, meaning better performance, less weight. You can see that in the 118 grams less this grail has compared to its predecessor, but also the 10% improved stiffness, as the Germans claim. We know: Germans don't joke around.

3. Tailoring to your needs:

  • The frame of the new Grail has been designed with you in mind. Various options and mounting points have been added to customise the bike to the user's individual preferences and needs.

4. Storage space in the down tube:

  • There is a storage space in the bottom tube of the frame. This is handy for storing essential items such as tools or some food. Again, saves space in the frame bags!

5. Special frame bag:

  • Canyon has also developed a special frame bag, which can be attached from the storage space in the down tube. This adds to the bike's ease of use and functionality.

6. New CP0039 Handlebar:

  • The new handlebar (CP0039) has mounting points for an attachment handlebar, so it can also be used in races. Many riders use an attachment handlebar for gravel races like Unbound.
    • The handlebars are inspired by the Canyon Speedmax time trial handlebars, where aerodynamics and speed are key.

7. Various Mounting Points:

  • Various mounting points are provided on the bike, such as for additional bottle cages or mudguards. This makes the bike more versatile and adaptable to different riding conditions and personal preferences.
