Just outside the village of Xaló/Jalón, you will find Jolanda and Hans Poortvliet's bed and breakfast. Since 2015, the former dancer and hospitality manager (also ask them about their love story!) have been running a bed and breakfast in an old finca with love and care for anyone wanting to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Jalón valley.

Adults only

This adults-only B&B is great for (semi-)professional and recreational riders, who can cycle a range of fantastic routes from here on their road bikes. From the Coll de Rates to the Vall d'Ebo, here you will find challenging climbs with breathtaking views. Also consider, for example, the Coll de Bernia (11 km / 4%) and the Port d'Alcoleja (15 km / 4%). Not for nothing do more and more professional teams plan their training camps here in winter.

Beautiful spaces

Hans and Jolanda's B&B has seven cosy double rooms, one of which can also serve as a lockable room for bikes, with a professional bike rack where you can safely hang up your steel steed. There is an opportunity to clean your bike, maintenance material is available and Hans and Jolanda have good contacts with local bike rental companies, such as Alta Bike Rental and Allure Bike Rental and Snakebite MTB Adventures.

Enjoying breakfast

Breakfast in the communal conservatory is well taken care of, and behind the conservatory is space to do your yoga or stretching session in the morning sun with views of almond trees and mountains. While doing so, you can also use the B&B's yoga mats. Cooling down after a hot ride is also possible, with one larger pool and one so-called 'bubbling pool'. In winter, though, this is for the diehards, as the water temperature of the pools is still below ten degrees.

All in

If you come with a group of cycling friends, and you book all the rooms, you can also use the communal kitchen next to the conservatory for dinner. In addition, Hans and Jolanda will be happy to help you with tips for restaurants in the area. On chilly evenings, you can sit by the pallet stove in the cosy conservatory with a good book or a game. If necessary, Jolanda will lovingly wash your cycling clothes, so you don't have to fiddle with your bib shorts and jerseys with soap in the sink.

This bicycle-friendly B&B is just 70 metres from the CV750 (the main road that runs through the valley and where the pelotons regularly pass 'the front door'). So a perfect starting point for the very best routes.  Truly a Cycling Destination Approved location!
